Risk Acknowledgement & Indemnity

1. The activity risks I understand

I understand that outdoor adventure activities involve risks even when experienced staff, suitable equipment and safety procedures are used. These may include falls, collisions, sudden weather changes, equipment problems, physical exertion and delays in reaching medical assistance. An accident can cause serious injury, permanent disability or death.

For paragliding, risks arise during the approach to the take-off site, launch, flight and landing. They include uneven terrain, changes in wind or turbulence, an unsuccessful launch, a hard landing and contact with obstacles. The pilot's checks and safety equipment reduce risk but cannot make flying risk-free.

For a different activity, I will review its specific risks before participating. For example, rafting involves moving water, immersion and drowning risks, while a zipline involves height, movement, braking and equipment-fit risks. This general acknowledgement does not replace the explanation needed for the activity, equipment and site I have actually booked.

2. My eligibility and information

I will provide my correct name, age, weight and relevant safety information, and meet the requirements disclosed for my activity. I will tell the team about a relevant health condition, recent surgery, injury, medication effect or mobility limitation before taking part.

For paragliding, I understand that Book My Thrills has a maximum participant weight of 95 kg at every location. A lower equipment, local or insurance limit may apply where disclosed. My harness must fit correctly and the equipment must remain within its permitted loading range.

For paragliding in Himachal Pradesh, I must be at least 12 years old and weigh at least 30 kg, and meet any further disclosed operator or insurer restrictions. Pregnant participants and people with heart ailments, epilepsy, lung disorders or asthma are not permitted to participate under the applicable Himachal safety rules. I will contact Book My Thrills before booking if an exclusion may apply; a personal waiver or medical advice cannot override it.

I will not participate while impaired by alcohol, illicit drugs or medication. For Himachal paragliding, alcohol in any quantity or illicit drugs must not have been consumed during at least the eight hours before the activity. I will follow any longer restriction disclosed for my booking.

3. Government ID and insurance

I will present a valid official government-issued ID before the event for identity verification and insurance purposes, using a document accepted for the booking's insurance arrangement. My booking details should match the document. I understand that any necessary ID information is used and shared as explained in the Privacy Policy.

I will review the insurance information supplied for my booking, including the type of cover, limits, exclusions and claims contact. Insurance is subject to its actual policy terms and does not replace the operator's duties or my legal rights. The activity must not proceed without any insurance required for it.

4. The briefing, equipment and my conduct

I will attend the safety briefing, listen to the pilot or instructor, wear the required safety equipment and ask for an explanation in a language I understand. I will follow directions during preparation, the activity and its completion.

I will tell the team promptly if equipment feels uncomfortable, a strap seems loose, I feel unwell or I want to stop. I will allow necessary equipment fitting and safety checks, with appropriate respect for my comfort and privacy. I will secure belongings as instructed and avoid distracting the pilot or interfering with equipment.

I may choose not to start. I understand that a personal decision to cancel is handled under the cancellation terms, while an operator's weather or operational cancellation gives the rescheduling or refund options stated there. A safety concern I raise will be assessed and explained rather than dismissed.

5. Safe flying and aerobatic manoeuvres

The pilot or instructor may delay, change or stop an activity where conditions are unsafe or an official restriction applies. Flight routes, launch timing and duration depend on suitable conditions. If a promised service cannot be delivered, the Terms and Conditions explain the available remedies.

Aerobatic manoeuvres with participants are prohibited on tandem flights in Himachal Pradesh. I will not request passenger stunts or treat my consent as permission to perform them. Book My Thrills standard tandem experiences do not include passenger aerobatic manoeuvres. This restriction does not prevent normal controlled turns or movements necessary for safe flight.

6. Emergencies and recording

If assistance is needed, I authorise the team to arrange reasonable first aid, rescue and contact with emergency services as permitted by law. Necessary information may be shared for that emergency purpose. Insurance treatment of medical or rescue expenses depends on the policy; this acknowledgement does not create an unlimited obligation to pay unspecified costs.

Where a video is included in my booking, recording may be used to deliver it. Advertising or social-media promotion using my identifiable photos or videos needs separate optional permission. My choice about promotional use does not affect my ability to participate.

7. Inherent risks and limited indemnity

I choose to participate voluntarily and acknowledge the inherent risks explained for my activity. This does not release Book My Thrills, the operator, pilot or instructor from negligence, deliberate wrongdoing, fraud, defective service or a legal duty that cannot be excluded. I retain the right to complain and seek remedies under applicable law.

To the extent permitted by law, I agree to reimburse a reasonable, proven loss directly caused by my deliberate misconduct or wilful disregard of a clear safety instruction. This is a limited indemnity. It does not make me responsible for ordinary activity risks, normal equipment wear, or loss caused by Book My Thrills, the operator, a pilot, defective equipment or another person. Any claim must identify the loss and my responsibility, allow me a reasonable opportunity to respond, and exclude amounts attributable to someone else's conduct.

8. My individual acknowledgement

I confirm that I have read this page and the specific information for my activity, or had them explained in a language I understand. I have had an opportunity to ask questions, have provided the required information honestly and understand the responsibilities above.

My acknowledgement relates to my own participation in the identified booking, activity and location. Another adult's declaration cannot be accepted on my behalf simply because they purchased the booking. For an eligible minor, the parent or lawful guardian must separately identify the participant and confirm their authority and permission.

For Himachal Pradesh flights, the operator must also obtain the undertaking prescribed by rule 14(8) and Annexure A of the Himachal Pradesh Aero Sports Rules, 2022 before the activity. Other authorities or insurers may require additional forms. This page does not replace a mandatory government form. Required participation records are handled as described in our Privacy Policy.
